During this time, there is usually sufficient rainfall and a mild climate, which reduces the need for frequent watering after planting. This not only saves labor but also promotes healthy root activity and new shoot development, leading to a high survival rate. It’s especially suitable for dry areas or regions with limited water sources.
Summer planting occurs during the hot and rainy season. Although the high temperature and abundant rainfall promote rapid shoot growth, it's important to avoid planting during the hottest part of the day, as the intense sunlight can stress the young plants. After planting, it's recommended to provide shade coverings to protect the seedlings from excessive heat and sun exposure.
Autumn planting takes place from September to October. At this time, the weather starts to cool down, but it's still warm enough for litchi to sprout and develop roots. After planting, the trees can produce one new root and one new shoot. However, in southern China, autumn droughts are common, so timely watering is crucial to help the seedlings recover quickly. In areas with limited water supply, planting too late in the season may not be advisable, as the plants might not establish strong roots before winter, which could negatively affect their survival.
