Newly purchased pigs are often under stress due to significant changes in the environment, feed, feeding methods, etc., and dysfunctions occur in the various systems of the organism. Light individuals do not grow for ten days and a half months, and severe cases are prone to induce fever, constipation, diarrhea, etc. The disease can even cause death. Therefore, the newly-purchased pigs should adopt the following "four steps" to take comprehensive measures to reduce the incidence.
The first step: Make preparations before entering the field. The pens should be cleaned before preparing the pigs to be purchased, especially the pens that have had the epidemic, and should be thoroughly disinfected. Disinfection can use 2% caustic soda water, 5% to 10% of Lysine or 10% peracetic acid, etc. according to the pathogen.
Step 2: Pick healthy pigs. It is best to buy real-owned and healthy pigs. If you purchase pigs from the bazaar or mobile vendors, you must be optimistic about health and ask for the “three certificates”. When purchasing pigs, the pigs should be asked about the type of feed they had previously eaten, the feeding time and the number of feeds, so that they can be targeted for feeding management or changing feeds. When changing feeds, they must be progressive and not completely replaceable.
The third step: Beverage potassium permanganate water. On the first day of purchasing the pigs, first feed 0.1% potassium permanganate solution or add antibiotics to drinking water and provide enough clean drinking water. After drinking water, allow the pigs to move freely, and then feed the appropriate amount of green and juicy feed or pellet feeds when they feed. Gradually add some concentrated feed after the second day so that the pigs can eat 78% full.
Step 4: Transfer to normal feeding. After the piglet is fully adapted to the feeding environment and the breeder, it can be transferred to normal feeding. When starting to feed normal feed, allow them to feed freely, and add doxycycline to the feed, 0.4 g to 0.8 g per head per day to prevent the pigs from crouching. To enhance the gastrointestinal adaptability of the pig, yeast powder or soda tablets can also be added to the feed.
