It’s been quite some time since we last did a Kitchenwise segment that wasn’t centered around food. Today’s video is all about giving your hair a little TLC, especially as we head into summer—or whatever season is coming up for you! Hair care is always a topic worth exploring, right?

Recently, I decided to treat myself to a touch-up after letting my naturally curly, often dry hair go uncolored for far too long. The stylist recommended using a deep conditioning mask every time I washed my hair for a few weeks post-coloring. Instead of running to the store for a pricey product, I opted for a homemade solution using my tried-and-true coconut oil. It’s amazing how such simple ingredients can work wonders!

In this episode, I demonstrate just how easy it is to whip up this hot oil treatment in your very own kitchen—using my kids’ curly locks as guinea pigs. Their hair feels softer than ever since we started this routine, so it looks like we’ll be sticking with it! My advice? Always double-wash your hair before applying the treatment, follow up with your usual conditioner or moisturizer, and ensure you rinse thoroughly if you’ve added essential oils. Luckily, we avoided any mishaps while rinsing, though we were left with incredibly smooth, healthy-looking hair!
