It's been a while since we last shared a Kitchenwise segment that wasn't about cooking or baking. Today, we're focusing on something completely different—taking care of your hair! Whether you're preparing for summer or just want to keep your tresses looking fabulous year-round, this episode has got you covered.

Recently, I decided to treat myself to some new hair color after letting it go for far too long. Naturally curly and always on the drier side, my locks needed extra TLC during the process. That’s why my stylist recommended using a deep conditioning mask every time I washed my hair over the next few weeks. Instead of buying an expensive store-bought product, I decided to whip up my own DIY hot oil treatment using ingredients I already had at home—like good old coconut oil.

In this video, you'll see me demonstrating how simple it is to create this nourishing treatment right in your own kitchen. We used my kids' naturally curly, sometimes unruly hair as our test subjects. Spoiler alert: Their hair felt softer than ever afterward! For best results, I suggest washing your hair twice before applying the oil mixture, followed by your usual conditioner or moisturizer while brushing through. If you decide to add essential oils, remember to rinse thoroughly with your eyes shut to avoid irritation. Thankfully, we didn’t encounter any problems during cleanup—just beautifully smooth strands!
