Aquaculture feed selection

First, the type of choice: a wide range of aquatic feed, from the shape can be divided into powder feed, soft pellet feed, hard pellet feed and puffed feed. In terms of use, there are squid, shrimp, and turtle. In order to select quality and cheap food among a large number of aquafeeds, it is necessary to specify what kind of material to buy and “to fish the fish”. If you are raising squid, you must buy squid material instead of using other materials, and you must also see if it is a fish or a fish.

Second, the quality of choice: Determine the type of feed, let's look at the quality of feed.

1. Reputation selection. To select feed products produced by companies with good reputation and large scale, they have relatively abundant funds and technical strength, can guarantee the balanced nutrition of feeds produced, scientific formulas, and can be targeted, for example, there are feeds specifically designed for squid. There is a feed specifically designed for grass carp that is highly targeted.

2. Packing options. When buying aquatic feed, don't neglect the label on the feed package. The feed label is generally at the upper left corner of the feed packaging, with the important contents such as the product name, nutrient composition, production period, and shelf life, respectively, and in particular instructions for use. So read it carefully when you buy it.

3. Select particle size. If you have any doubts, consult the distributors clearly to avoid losses due to improper use. Particular emphasis is placed on the size of the particle size when purchasing aquafeeds. Aquatic feeds have particle sizes ranging from 0.5 to 8.0 mm, and are fed with different mouth-splitting aquatic products. Basically, the particle size of the feed should be 2/3 of the longitudinal length of the split mouth of aquatic products. Take the head lice, for example, if the vertical length of the crack is 9 mm, then it is suitable for feeding feeds with a particle size of 6 mm, which will neither cause waste nor affect food intake. To determine the quality of aquafeeds, you have to look at how they look.

4. Color selection. Identify the good feed from the color: It should have a brighter luster and a consistent color, which is the first sensory index to select the feed.

5. It is not possible to select moldy or deteriorating feeds. Mild or deteriorating feeds are generally blue in colour and very uneven and inconsistent. This kind of feed should not be selected. Especially in the preservation process, because the weather is relatively humid in the south, it is easy to mold. Therefore, it is necessary to be careful when selecting feedstuffs at this time. For this kind of deteriorating feed, it is generally not necessary to choose. In addition to not selecting mildewed feeds, the feeds that are bound together should not be selected. Because of humidity and other factors, the feeds will stick together and some nutrients may change after bonding.

6. Appearance selection. The quality of the feed can be judged by its appearance, and the quality of the feed can be recognized by the smell of the feed. From the odor on the identification of good feed, especially aquatic feed, because of the use of some fish meal, generally have a normal fishy smell, smell more pleasant. If it is a poor feed, because it uses some substitutes for fishmeal, the fishy smell is lighter, or simply not. In addition, bad feeds may have a musty or “hazy” appearance. This is actually the taste produced after the oxidation of fat. This feed should not be fed because the feed, once fed, may cause The large area of fish died.

When buying aquafeeds, you may want to take a little less and soak in water for a while to see how stable it is in the water. Through stability, you can also see the quality of the feed.
