Yunnan's Agricultural Exports Doubled in August

According to customs statistics, in August of this year, the export value of agricultural products in Yunnan Province doubled. Exports of agricultural products amounted to 427,000 tons, an increase of 7.5% year-on-year, and foreign exchange earning reached US$850 million, a year-on-year increase of 39.8%. Foreign trade accounted for 15.9% of the province’s total export value.

As a result of the severe drought in the first half of the year, the prices of agricultural products have increased significantly over the previous year, but traditional and specialty agricultural products are still highly favored. In the first eight months, the province exported 52.56 million US dollars of fruit, an increase of 86.1% year-on-year. Among them, the export value of traditional agricultural products such as pomegranates, grapes, peaches, plums and almonds ranked first in the country. In addition, "cloud smoke" exports 64,000 tons, 270 million US dollars, the amount and value increased by 4.8% and 12% respectively; "cloud flower" exports 4774 tons, 18.24 million US dollars; "cloud tea" exports 3594 tons, 10.85 million US dollars; "Nematode" exports 5020 tons, 43.25 million US dollars, of which Matsutake exports 16.88 million US dollars, an increase of 6.5%, accounting for 39% of the proportion of edible fungi exports.

ASEAN and APEC member countries are major consumer regions for agricultural products in Yunnan Province. In the first eight months of this year, the province exported 390 million U.S. dollars of agricultural products to ASEAN countries, an increase of 67 percent over the same period of last year; the proportion of foreign trade accounted for 45.9% of agricultural exports; and the exports to APEC member countries amounted to 540 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 45.6% year-on-year, the second largest increase; The EU exported 198 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 15.2 percent; and exported 6.66 million U.S. dollars to SAARC countries, an increase of 7.9%.
