High yield of tomatoes

During the entire growth cycle of tomatoes, it is essential to apply the right amount of fertilizer according to the plant's developmental stages in order to ensure high-quality and high-yield harvests. Proper fertilization not only supports healthy growth but also enhances fruit quality and resistance to diseases. The fertilization strategy includes three main phases: base fertilizer application before planting, foliar feeding during the growing season, and top-dressing during fruiting. Before transplanting seedlings, it's recommended to apply a sufficient amount of well-rotted farmyard manure as a base fertilizer. Additionally, you can use 10 kg of urea, 10 kg of ammonium phosphate, and 40–50 kg of calcium superphosphate per acre. Alternatively, you may use 25–50 kg of potassium sulfate compound fertilizer or 10 kg of urea mixed with high-quality soil-based organic fertilizer. This ensures a balanced nutrient supply for strong root development. During the growing season, when the tomato plants have 5–6 leaves, check the leaf color. If the leaves appear pale, it may indicate a nutrient deficiency. At this point, you can apply foliar sprays using solutions such as 300-times diluted urea, 300-times diluted potassium dihydrogen phosphate, or a 0.1%–0.3% solution of potassium sulfate compound fertilizer. These sprays should be applied every 10 days during the active growth period. You can also combine foliar feeding with pest control treatments to save time and improve efficiency. In the fruiting stage, timely top-dressing is crucial. When the first fruits reach a diameter of 1.5–2.5 cm, apply a liquid fertilizer. A typical mix includes 15–20 kg of ammonium nitrate, 20–30 kg of superphosphate, or 5 kg of urea per mu, along with 10–20 kg of potassium sulfate compound fertilizer. Water the fertilizer into the soil after application. When the second and third fruits grow to about 3 cm in diameter, apply separate top-dressings. For each application, use 10 kg of urea and 15–20 kg of potassium sulfate compound fertilizer. During the full fruiting period, you can also use foliar sprays for additional nutrition. Solutions like potassium dihydrogen phosphate, liquid manure, or superphosphate can be applied to enhance fruit color, flavor, and overall quality. This extra-root feeding helps the plant meet its nutritional needs more effectively, especially under high yield conditions. By following these fertilization practices, you can maximize your tomato production while maintaining the health and vitality of your crops throughout the growing season.
