There are three methods for fry feeding

One method of feeding fish involves using cake powder, such as soybean meal, cottonseed meal, rapeseed meal, and peanut meal, which are ground into a dry powder and then scattered on the water surface. This dry feed floats for an extended period, allowing for better nutrient absorption. It is recommended to spread 1.5 kg of dry cake powder per mu of water daily, and this can be done four times a day. This method ensures high feed utilization and supports efficient fish growth. Another approach is the straw-feeding method, where fiber-free fresh grass pulp is used to feed species like silver carp and bighead carp. This technique is especially suitable for raising ornamental fish and whitebream fry, and it can reduce feed costs by approximately 17%. Grass pulp should be sprinkled twice a day, with 50–80 kg per acre, or about 15–18 kg per 10,000 fry. The grass should be evenly distributed to ensure all fish have access. The third method combines natural and artificial feeding. Before introducing fry into the pond, 300 kg of manure per acre is applied to cultivate rotifers and other natural food sources. A few days after the fry are introduced, 2 kg of soy milk or 2.5 kg of cake flour is added per acre to supplement the natural feed. Fertilizer should be applied every three days, with 170 kg of compost per acre. After one week, if the plankton population in the pond is insufficient, additional feed should be provided along with duckweed or young grass placed in shallow areas around the pond. This helps feed herbivorous fry and ensures a balanced diet for all fish.
