To ensure ridge cultivation works effectively, it's important to set the ridge height at an appropriate level. Generally, a height of around 25 cm is considered ideal. However, this can vary depending on the specific conditions of the greenhouse. For example, if water flows poorly from the south side of the greenhouse, increasing the ridge height to 30 cm can help prevent water from overflowing onto the ridge. In contrast, if water drains well, a lower height of 20 cm may be sufficient.
The key is to ensure that during irrigation, the water level reaches about two-thirds of the ridge height. This allows for proper moisture distribution without causing waterlogging. By following this guideline, farmers can maximize the benefits of ridge cultivation and support healthier, more productive vegetable crops.
