Leek feeding pigs have many benefits

There are numerous benefits to incorporating leeks into a pig's diet. Leeks can be used not only as a nutritional supplement but also as a natural remedy for various health issues in pigs, including anemia, low milk production in sows, poor appetite in fattening pigs, and even certain digestive problems in piglets. To prevent anemia in piglets, you can prepare a leek infusion by mincing 300 to 500 grams of fresh leeks and soaking them in boiling water. Let the mixture sit covered, ensuring the water doesn’t contain any leek pieces. Before each feeding, give the piglets a tablespoon of this infusion after they have consumed their colostrum. Continue this for one day, then feed them another tablespoon the next day until they start eating on their own. For sows with insufficient milk, mix 250 to 500 grams of leeks, 500 to 1,000 grams of sweet rice lees (fermented rice), and 250 grams of small fish. Crush all ingredients, rinse with boiling water, and let it cool before offering it to the sows. Allow them to drink freely, and repeat this twice daily for three days. This method has been shown to improve milk production effectively. In the case of fattening pigs, adding 250 grams of freshly chopped leeks to their feed, two to three times a day, can significantly boost their appetite within five days. Their coats will become shinier, and their skin will appear healthier. Continuing this practice by feeding 50 grams of leeks daily can further enhance growth, especially in younger pigs. For piglets suffering from white diarrhea (a condition known as white peony), take 30 grams of fresh leeks, wash them thoroughly, cut them into small pieces, and mash them. Wrap the mixture in gauze and squeeze out the juice. Administer this juice twice daily to affected piglets. For larger piglets, double the dose. Most cases show improvement within one day, and some may be fully cured after two or three days of treatment. Lastly, for boars suffering from immature or weak semen, stop using them temporarily and feed them 150 to 200 grams of chopped fresh leeks mixed into their regular feed, twice a day, for 5 to 7 days. This treatment has proven effective in improving fertility and reproductive performance in boars. By using leeks in these ways, farmers can naturally support the health and productivity of their pigs without relying heavily on synthetic medications.
