Seedling investigation

Before going out of the nursery, we must first conduct a survey of seedlings. The investigation of seedlings is to learn the types, quantity, specifications, and quality of seedlings in order to make a nursery plan for qualified seedlings. This work needs to be highly detailed.

Formal lifting

The seedlings that have reached the size of the nursery, or the seedlings that need to be transplanted to grow larger seedlings, must be raised. This work is one of the important links in seedling production and directly affects the transplanting, afforestation survival rate and afforestation effects of seedlings.

Regardless of deciduous or evergreen species, in principle, seedlings should be raised during the dormant period. Therefore, it is better to start the spring in the spring and it is best to plant it with you. To raise seedlings after sprouting will affect the survival rate of seedling planting. Lifting can be done manually or mechanically. Artificial seedlings are generally grown now, and there are mainly two methods: bare root and earth ball.

Bare root seedlings: deciduous trees and easy-to-live conifer seedlings can be raised from bare roots. Do not pull hard seedlings when raising seedlings, so as not to pull out the roots of the injured seedlings, and protect the soil on the root system as far as possible after the ride.

Soil ball raising: Most evergreen broad-leaved trees and a few deciduous broad-leaved trees and coniferous trees have undeveloped roots, few fibrous roots, weak rooting ability, and large transpiration, so they must carry soil balls. The size of the earth ball differs depending on the size of the seedlings, the ease of survival of the tree species, the distribution of the root system, soil conditions, and transportation conditions. Generally, the radius of the earth ball is about 5 to 10 times the diameter of the root stem, and the height is about 2/3 of the diameter of the earth ball. From the big seedlings, the branches and leaves should be bundled with ropes to reduce the volume and be easy to operate and transport. The seedling depth determines the length and number of the roots of the seedlings. The general seedlings and broadleaf seedlings have a seedling depth of 20 cm to 30 cm. Seedlings are 25 centimeters to 30 centimeters; at the same time, care should be taken not to raise the seedlings when the breeze blows, otherwise the seedlings will lose too much water and reduce the survival rate; if it is a drought nursery, irrigation should be conducted 2 days to 3 days before the seedlings are lifted. The soil is moist to reduce the damage to the root system when lifting.

Transport

In order to prevent the roots from drying out and reduce the quality of the seedlings during transportation, the seedlings should be packaged so as to prevent the roots and leaves from being exposed to the sun or be blown by the wind for a long time. The packing work should be carried out at the place where the leeward is avoided, and the seedlings of the evergreen tree species should be exposed to prevent moldy rot. When transporting seedlings, it is advisable to cover the seedlings with straw, sacks, straw mats, and the like, and to check the humidity and temperature between the branches and leaves. Ventilate and sprinkle water according to the temperature and humidity conditions.

Planted before planting

After a large number of seedlings that cannot be transported in time or after they have been planted, all need to be planted. The place where the plough should be well-drained and the leeward sunny place should be selected. The depth of the planting seedlings is 30 cm to 40 cm, and the wall of the windward surface is inclined at 45 degrees. When long-term artificial planting, be sure to do a deep burial, a single row of solid, and shade with a seat, shade net, etc., to reduce the temperature.
