After a heavy summer storm, vegetables can suffer significant damage. Fourth, apply foliar fertilizer. After heavy rain, the roots may not absorb nutrients efficiently. Spraying a solution of 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate and 1% urea can quickly restore the plant’s vitality and help it recover faster.
Fifth, spread wood ash. It helps absorb excess moisture, improves soil fertility, and creates a less favorable environment for pests and diseases. In rural areas, this is an easy and effective option.
Sixth, loosen the soil after it dries slightly. Compacted soil restricts root growth and reduces oxygen availability. Tilling the soil improves its structure and encourages stronger root development.
Lastly, monitor for pests and diseases. High humidity and warm temperatures after a storm create ideal conditions for pathogens. Apply broad-spectrum, eco-friendly pesticides like carbendazim + mancozeb or chlorothalonil + kung fu, but always follow the recommended safety intervals to avoid residue issues.
By taking these steps promptly, farmers can significantly reduce damage and improve the chances of a successful harvest.
