Tenebrio insecticides and large quantities of commercial Tenebrio molitors at industrial scale are inevitably subject to storage and transportation problems.
I. Stored in the case where the production of Tenebrio is too large and cannot be fully utilized at one time, Tenebrio can be temporarily frozen and stored. Before freezing, the insect body should be washed (or boiled, steamed, steamed) and packaged. After cooling to room temperature, it can be stored in a freezer or freezer. The temperature can be kept below -15°C for more than 6 months. Frozen insects can still be stored. Used as feed or food. The insects can be packaged in plastic bags (500-1000g/bag), packaged and frozen in a freezer (-15°C), and can be removed at any time if needed. You can also use a crisper.
For large-scale production and processing, dry insects or insect powder can be the main storage method. The mealworms are separated from the feedstuff residue and the fecal sand, warmed by hot water, dried, or further processed into insect powder, and stored for use.
Second, transport can generally be divided into living transportation and processing of raw materials, insect or insect powder transport. Currently, it is mainly based on the first situation.
1. Living transport According to the different forms of insects, they can be divided into two groups: static (egg, tick) and active (larvae, adults, and larvae). Generally limited to short-distance transportation.
There are few problems in the transportation of the worm (egg, pupa), and the transport of eggs (eggs) is the most convenient and safe. As long as the egg (egg card) is not squeezed excessively, there is basically no loss. Long-distance mailings can be used as the main method. Eggs can also be mixed and transported together with egg-laying bran and sand. When transporting cockroaches, they should be loaded with 30% to 50% of the weight of insect feces or feed at the same time in the container, so as to isolate and reduce the temperature, so that the mortality rate or deformity rate can be greatly reduced.
Active larvae (larvae, adults) are mainly larvae. Tenebrio larvae can be packed in bags, drums, or boxes, 10 kilograms per carton (or bucket), so that packaging does not generally cause a large number of deaths. However, special attention should be paid to repeated vibrations and disturbances during the transport of Tenebrio molitor. They are constantly active and the worms are squeezed between each other. If no summer heat-reduction measures are taken in summer, a bag of 10 kg of worms will be transported for one hour. The temperature of the body in the bag (or box) can be increased by 5 to 10°C, which can lead to death of a large number of insects due to high temperature. When the temperature is lower than 5°C, how to warm up should be considered. Here are some items to note in the transportation process as follows:
1 In the shipping container, 30% to 50% of insects and 10% to 20% of feedstuffs are mixed with the insects, and the insects are mixed evenly. The insects can be isolated to reduce the contact between the insects. It also absorbs part of the heat and lowers the temperature.
2 Use woven bags to enclose insects and insect feces, then level them at the bottom of the bug box. The thickness should not exceed 5 cm. The boxes can be stacked and loaded.
3 When the temperature is below 5°C, consider how to warm up. During the transportation process, check the temperature changes at any time and take appropriate measures in time. The main influencing factor is the local high-temperature death caused by excessive groups in the transportation process. Mineral water that forms ice blocks should be added to the loading device. However, Tenebrio cold resistance is relatively strong, generally not frozen to death.
2. Transportation of Tenebrio as Processing Material With the accelerated development and utilization of industrial resources of Tenebrio molitor, Tenebrio will be used as a processing material for long-distance transportation. According to the different processing methods and processing targets, it can be divided into frozen storage transport and dry transport of insects. Freezing storage and transportation can be achieved by using a refrigerated transporter. Dry insects can be produced by using electric ovens, microwave ovens, and drying.
