A long-term study in the UK shows that children who watch TV for more than two hours a day are twice as likely to have asthma.
Researchers at the University of Glasgow report in the medical journal "Chest" published on the 3rd that they tracked the respiratory health and TV watching habits of more than 3,000 British children born in 1991 and 1992 before the age of 11 and a half. I found that children who did not have any asthma symptoms, 6% of them got asthma after 8 years. Analysis shows that those who watch TV for more than 2 hours a day are twice as likely to have asthma as children with less than 2 hours.
Researchers believe this supports a recent theory that breathing patterns associated with lack of exercise can lead to changes in lung development and asthma symptoms in children.
Experts suspect that lack of exercise and obesity can affect the development of the respiratory system, especially the development of smooth air muscles in the lungs.
Usually in the study, the length of time watching TV every day is considered to determine whether a person has enough physical activity in daily life. In the UK study, PCs and video games were not yet popular in the mid-1990s, and research has not been included in these two factors. Meditech Medical Network
