(1) The concept of estrus The ewes begin to develop estrus when they reach a certain age. Estrus is a cyclical change that occurs in unmarried mothers. During estrus, follicles develop rapidly in the ovaries, and the estrogen produced by it acts on the genital tract to produce a series of changes that provide conditions for fertilization; estrogen can also produce libido and sexual arousal for the dam, and allow males to climb, Changes in external behavior such as mating. This physiology is called estrus.

(b) After the estrus cycle has reached the stage of puberty, a series of cyclical changes occur in the genital organs and the entire organism. This change is repeated (except in non-estrus seasons and pregnant animals) until the age at which sexual function ceases to be active. This periodic sexual activity is called the estrus cycle. The estrus cycle is usually the interval from the beginning of one estrus to the beginning of the next estrus. The average beef cattle is about 2l days, but there are also individual differences. The estrus cycle of young and well-fed cows is relatively consistent, while the estrus cycle of older and poorly-fed cows is longer. In general, young cows are approximately one day shorter than adult cows.

The occurrence of the estrous cycle is the result of changes in the ovarian cycle. The ovarian cycle is controlled by complex endocrine mechanisms involving the interaction of secretory hormones such as the hypothalamus, pituitary, ovaries, and uterus.

According to the animal's libido performance and the corresponding changes in the body and reproductive organs; the estrus cycle can be divided into four stages: pre-estrus, estrus, late estrus, and intercourse. According to the ovarian follicle development, maturation and ovulation, and the formation and degradation of the corpus luteum in two stages, the estrous cycle is divided into follicular phase and luteal phase. Follicular phase refers to the development of follicles from the beginning of development to ovulation, the equivalent of pre-estrus and estrus; and the luteinous phase refers to the formation of corpus luteum after ovarian follicle rupture, until the corpus luteum began to degrade until the equivalent of late estrus and intercourse.

(c) Beef cattle are estrus in multiple cycles throughout the year. During the warm season, the estrus cycle is normal and the estrus performance is significant. However, in cold regions, especially in the case of extensive feeding, the estrus cycle will stop. The dry estruss of dry cows that had not produced calves in the current year were mostly concentrated in the period from July to August, and the estruss of the first batch of cows followed, mostly in August-September. The puerperal nursing cows were mostly concentrated in the estrus in September-November. . The seasonality of estrus is influenced to a large extent by climate, pasture, and cows' nutritional status, all of which are in the best conditions of the local natural climate and pasture conditions.
