Banana bunchy top disease is a devastating disease of bananas. The disease has been widespread in Taiwan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian and Yunnan provinces (regions). The rate of field disease in Guangdong Province is generally 5% to 10%, and some of the diseased banana gardens are 20% to 40%. The susceptible plants are dwarfed and do not bloom and bud; plants that are susceptible during the budding stage are less fruitful and have no commercial value. The main symptoms of the disease are dwarfing. The new leaves are narrower, shorter, harder, and straighter than the first leaves. The diseased leaves are brittle and bundled. There are intermittent dark green stripes on the veins. The pathogen is banana bunchy top virus. The primary infestation source in the new banana planting area comes with poisonous seedlings. The old banana plant area is derived from the diseased plant and its sucking buds. The long-distance spread of the disease depends mainly on the use of poisonous buds, and close-distance propagation depends on bananas. Therefore, the peak period of onset is closely related to the occurrence of vector insects. In Guanyuan, Guangdong, the number of populations that cross the veins gradually increased in October, peaked in the first two months of the following year, and peaked in April and May. The incubation period of the disease is 1 to 3 months. In addition to bananas, the hosts of the genus Cinnamomum also include plants of the genus Taro, Ginger, Abaca, and Snake. Among the existing banana cultivars, no resistant varieties have yet been found.
Control methods: (1) Strengthen the quarantine of banana seedlings and tissue culture seedlings. The selection of suckers for tissue culture in the field should strictly comply with the quarantine procedures. The first generation of tissue culture seedlings should be sent to the relevant departments for biological and serum determinations. It is determined that they will not reproduce if they are not poisoned; virus-carrying seedlings should be destroyed in time. (2) The nursery should be set in a radius of 2 to 3 kilometers without the place of the banana garden to prevent the transmission of poisonous mites. If necessary, an insect net of 60 mesh can be added around the nursery; the seedlings spray 40% dimethoate 1000 every 10 days. ~ 1500 times the liquid, or fish rattan fine 800 times, or 50% Tuo fog 2000 times, etc., in order to ensure that the tissue culture planting period is not sick. (3) All disease-replanting disease-free tissue culture seedlings are the best way to cure this disease. Sporadic banana gardens should be regularly checked and excavated as soon as possible. Open the hole for half a month before replanting the disease-free tissue culture.
