Cedar Cuttage Seedling Pruning

Cedar main trunk is tall and straight, magnificent, and widely used in landscaping. However, many people think that cedar trees are beautiful and do not have to be pruned during cultivation. In fact, this argument is not correct. In general, cedar seedlings can be naturally shaped without trimming. However, at present, the seed source is insufficient in China. Most cedar trees are cutting seedlings and it is difficult to naturally form a beautiful tree. The following is a brief introduction to the tree features of the high-quality cedar and the method of pruning. First, the cedar tree has a normal, high-quality cedar tree with a clear center leading. It grows vigorously, and the large lateral branches are irregular and whorled out. They are parallel and full, surrounded by a balanced, full, and slightly twigs drooping. The lateral branches of the lower part gradually shorten to the upper part and are densely and evenly distributed to form a tower-shaped canopy. Second, abnormal tree pruning method 1. The main bending should be righting the cedar to the tree, and the trunk upright does not fork. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain the advantage of the central leadership to grow upward. Some of the main trunks of the seedlings are bent or weak and will inevitably affect the normal growth of the plants. The bamboo shoots can be used to tie up the main shoots and give full play to their top advantages. The binding work is performed once a year. If there are competing branches in the main branch, they should choose to leave one strong branch as the central leader and another short-term retreat, which will be short in the second year. 2. The side branch of the large lateral branch of the cedar side branch was irregularly born on the trunk, and the number was large. If the separation distance is too small, canopy closure, uneven nutrient distribution, and unbalanced growth will result. The purpose of trimming is to arrange the side branches in a layered arrangement on the main trunk. Each side has 4 to 6 side branches and extends in different directions. The distance between the layers is 30 to 50 cm. All those who were selected as collateral were left with the protection of their new shoots. For thicker branches that are not selected as collaterals in the layer, they should be short-cut first, supplemented for a period of time before processing, and the remaining branches should be properly removed. 3. Balanced tree potential tree parts due to different conditions, the growth rate is inconsistent, so the growth potential is also strong and weak points. High-quality cedars require a lower lateral branch length, which gradually shortens upwards, while lateral branches of the same layer must have balanced growth to form a beautiful tree shape. Therefore, when pruning, make sure that each lateral branch grows in balance. When balancing the tree vigor, the branches with strong growth potential can be retracted and cut, and the branches with weak growth or the drooping branches can be replaced. 4. Adjusting the "stronger and weaker" tree vigor. Some cedar lower branches proliferate, while the upper branches are weak, forming strong, weak and weak canopies. (See Figure 2) The reason is that the seedlings failed to straighten the top, so that the nutrition was scattered on the lower lateral branch, so that the upper lateral branch did not stretch after growth, the next strong minister, affecting the ornamental value. The solution is to trim the lower strong branches, overlapping branches, and parallel branches; the upper part of the plant is sprayed with a 40 to 50 ppm gibberellin (GA) solution and sprayed every 20 days to promote its growth. 5. Reformation of Partial Trees Cedars tend to grow in the direction of a tree crown due to improper selection of cuttings during cutting or restricted space during the growth process. The method of transforming this tree is to introduce empty space, that is, to pull the nearby big side branches with a rope or wire. It is also possible to graft new shoots, that is, where the gaps are large without branches, a robust shoot is grafted by the abdominal connection method, so that it sprouts new shoots.
